Originally from the US, Kelly moved to Sweden a few years ago for her post-doctoral research. Now she is onboard Cellfion where she will be working as the bridge between market and technology and playing a key role in the development of Cellfion's technology and as a company.

We asked Kelly to answer some questions so that we can get to know her a little better:

- Tell us a little bit about your background and what lead you to the position of Application Engineer at Cellfion

I have a background in chemistry, having a focus in electrochemistry and sustainable chemistry. I received my PhD in chemistry in 2017 from Yale University, where my thesis focused primarily on developing and optimizing catalysts for photoelectrochemical water oxidation. Afterwards, I moved to Uppsala, Sweden for post-doctoral research. During this time, I focused more on photoelectrochemical hydrogen generation by helping to develop cathodes for photoelectrochemical cells and to develop reusable catalysts for sustainable organic synthesis via photoredox catalysis using solar energy. As I have a passion for sustainability and a love of electrochemistry, I applied for the role at Cellfion since they match my values and interests.

 - What does the role of Application Engineer entail and what do you look forward to most with your new position?

The role of application engineer acts as a bridge between product development and technical sales. This will involve communicating with our future customers, finding out their needs from us and our membranes, and working with them to reach their goals.

- How do you envision yourself growing and developing within the company in the next few years?

I envision myself having more of a leadership role in the company and having expertise with all of our products, both how they are made and applied.

- What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy rock climbing, especially outdoors. I also like training at the gym and teaching group training classes.
